For working people, it cannot be helped that sometimes, work calls on them even if they are on vacation or attending seminars and conferences. Sometimes they bring their laptops with them when they leave, so they can at least answer emails without using their smart phones. There are times however, when more are needed to be done than simply answering emails. Sometimes, documents have to be printed and signed, and then send them via fax or email.

When this happens, it can become frustrating since you know that you don’t have the necessary office equipment to perform the tasks requested from you, especially if these requests are urgent. Businesses, like Staples, understand these situations. They want to help people be able to accomplish their work even when they’re out of the office. It is for these reasons that they developed self-service hubs in their stores where people can stay to work and use their office equipment.

These are the things that you can do in their shops:

Use their computer workstations. If you don’t have your laptop, then this will be very helpful. You should be able to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Adobe Reader, Internet Explorer and email applications, CD/DVD, USB, Compact Flash, and SD card reader support. You will also have Cloud access while using their custom print kiosk. You will have access to your documents (spreadsheets, files, photos, etc.) through Google Drive and/or Dropbox.

Scan, copy, and print documents. Using top-of-the-line Ricoh and Xerox multifunction printers, you can:

Scan your files directly to your flash drive, or you can send them to your email. You can save the files as TIFF, JPG, or PDF.

Do single-sided and/or double-sided copying. Their machines also collate and staple documents.

Print colored and/or black and white documents.

Fax documents. If your client or business partners need you to send fax, or if they will be sending you fax, no problem. You should be able to use the store’s fax machine. It’s convenient, fast, and affordable. The fax rates depend on whether you’ll be sending fax domestic or international.

Shred files and documents. If after your work and you have accumulated documents that you need to dispose, you can do it in the store. You don’t have to worry about confidentiality because they have paper shredders that are available if needed.

Other services. Talk to their customer service representatives and see what other things they can offer. Maybe you need to order postage stamps, or ship some documents, or will require graphic design services. See if they can help you with these.
