A selfie is a picture you take of yourself often always to share around on some social media networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr. Of course, Kim Kardashian, the acknowledged “queen of selfies,” in an advertisement for T-Mobile where she is shown parodying herself, described it as “the purpose of life.”

In that ad, she discussed how to take the perfect selfie. In one segment, she said: “If you don’t have a mirror in front of you to figure out your pose and your angle, make sure that the lighting is amazing because you want to blow out everything that you don’t want to see and highlight all the good things that you do.

For me I know my perfect angle, it’s my chin down and I just pose away and take about 300 photos until I get the perfect selfie.” But then, everyone knows that Kim was just pulling your leg.

Practically everyone these days takes selfies, probably because phones now come with digital cameras that can easily upload shots to their social media pages easily.

Even the Pope takes and shares his selfies on the Internet. So how do you take the perfect selfie? Here are some tips from Kim and other experts:

1. Find the right angle.

Some say that a smartphone tilted at 45-degrees, set just above your eye-line, is the best. But to be totally sure, you have to experiment with different angles and see how your features will actually turn out.

2. Find a good light source.

For most purposes, a shot against a softly-backlit wall or with the flash of your smartphone reflected in a mirror would suffice to get the trick done. Use a thin curtain to diffuse sunlight or a single light source to make the scene look softer and more flattering.

3. Frame the shot in a way that will not be too close nor too far.

Crop it until it’s perfect Kim once told Jimmy Kimmel on his show, adding: “If you don’t like something on your body, just crop it.”

4. Assume that all important pose.Assume that all important pose - PhotoPrintPrices.com

For most, they just smile or do what you normally do in front of a camera. For Kim, she puts on her customary duckface look. Said she: “I love it because it gives you cheekbonesthough it does make people mad.”

5. Take the shot or shots you want.

Examine them. Experiment with how they’ll look using the different filters that comes built-in with your phone. Edit and retouch until you’re happy with the results. Aside from your phone’s built-in tools and filters, there are lots of apps you can download freely for editing your selfies.

6. Upload your selfies to your social media accounts and share with friends and followers.

For maximum sharing, be sure you don’t forget your Facebook Page.

A recent study found that forty-eight percent of the most-shared selfies are posted on Facebook, followed by twenty-seven percent of those posted on WhatsApp, and nine percent on those posted on Twitter.

Also make sure that you accompany your selfie posts with some catchy and intriguing caption.
